By this point, he’s probably rather puzzled by whatever he saw in Putin’s soul by this point as well.
“You can’t be the president and the head of the military at the same time,” Bush said, describing a telephone call with Musharraf. “I had a very frank discussion with him.”
I don’t mean to make light of the situation, but that must have sounded like an odd thing for a president/commander-in-chief to say.
I can see Musharraf taking the phone away from his ear at that point and staring at it in disbelief, then asking Bush “Is your daddy home?”
With a name like “Pervez…”
Well, Bush obviously looked into his his heart, you know, like he does.
