Sam on Where the Wild Things Are
Sam (8), immediately after seeing Where the Wild Things Are:
"Do you think this is the greatest movie ever made, or is that Jurassic Park?"
UPDATE: My wife Sara tells me that Sam is not, in fact, a fan of the book Where the Wild Things Are. (This doesn’t surprise me, I wasn’t either when I was his age.) His actual quote: "I mean, the book is one thing, but this!" The fact that the movie now threatens to knock no less than Jurassic Park off his best-of list makes the movie’s achievement that much more impressive.
UPDATE: Sam and his friend Rahi (7) have proclaimed Where the Wild Things Are "the best movie ever made in the history of everything."
Well, that decides it — I have to see this.

He generally never even mentions a movie again after seeing it. So yeah, that’s something of a coup for Wild Things.
I’m glad to hear it made his heart sing.
It made everything groovy.
Just think, ten years from now (or maybe even sooner), another Wild Things entirely could capture his imagination.
Oh, he’s seen that already. He saw every twist coming a mile away.
Even Kevin Bacon’s twist (which I’m sure many viewers — myself excepted — wish they could un-see)?
I saw the first showing of this in my area yesterday. I had my doubts when it was first announced that Spike Jonze was tackling this, but the film really blew me away. I don’t want him to go another seven years before making his next film, but if the end result is as magical as this one, then he can take all the time he needs.
Magical yes, but I never met a Wild Thing that needed so much therapy…
Yeah, it says a lot when a boy’s imaginary friends all have deep-seated psychological problems.
