Fundamental human truth discovered by Washington pundit!

The Republicans have, apparently, just now discovered that their president and his administration are monstrously incompetent. Strange how this discovery lay beyond their deductive capabilties during the past six years while they were enjoying the most unfettered amount of power in recent history.

And what did they do with that power? They did with it what all politicians do with unchecked power, used it to make a ton of money for themselves as they laid waste to the environment and began unnecessary foreign wars designed to line their pockets.

With nearly two years remaining in his presidency, George W. Bush is alone. In half a century, I have not seen a president so isolated from his own party in Congress — not Jimmy Carter, not even Richard Nixon as he faced impeachment

I’ll believe it when he’s impeached.

I wonder what the odds are on old Scooter getting himself a nice, shiney Presidential Pardon in two years time?

Got to reward the silence and loyalty for taking the fall 🙂

Actually, one of the key features of the Bush presidency is that he greatly rewards loyalty, until he doesn’t need you any more. Then he throws you to the wolves. A sick, disgusting man surrounded by jackals.

I hope the folks hoping to get Bush’s job(on either side of the aisle) understand what they’re getting into.

As this magical corruption machine the right has built comes rapidly unglued, it’s rather stunning to see how much is simply broken, or nearly so. Whoever takes on this clean up job had better be prepared to hit the ground running and to make a lot of people unhappy(like the folks making a mint off our experiment with a neoconservative fantasyland.)

    • Todd says:

What conservatives often count on is breaking things so completely that they cannot be repaired in four years by the next liberal who gets in. Then they can swoop in and save the day from those horrible, immoral liberals. Because voters won’t remember.

All the problems come back to the American voters. That’s the beauty of Democracy.

Let’s not forget what the Dems have been doing this whole time, which is NOT “hammering the Bush administration for blatant corruption and lawlessness.”

    • Todd says:

I’m guessing that the Democrats have been sitting on their hands this whole time because they’re just as owned by corporate interests as the Republicans. They just don’t have the “stomach for the fight” (to use Darth Cheney’s words) to be so blatantly hypocritical about it.
