Dang it! I’d only gotten to show 3 of the series in my backlog so far. I clicked the link and now… I know things.

    Meh. Virginity is overrated.

I will never buckle my seat belt again.

  7. jestermotley says:

Absolutely amazing. I can’t WAIT to see your analysis of this. Particularly of the after credits bump. I mean.. ouch.

So good. Hats off to Doc and Jackson again for making a “silly cartoon show” so packed with other emotions.

  8. I’m so stunned I can’t think straight!

  9. autodidactic says:

Aw, I know man. I watch it first chance I get.

  10. johnnycrulez says:

    I’m so empty inside.

Was Dr. Girlfriend’s secret ever actually revealed?

      • Anonymous says:

It wasn’t explicitly revealed, but I believe the adult swim message board consensus is that she finally told him that she’d been working for the Guild behind his back for some time, trying to get him to cease and desist with Dr. Venture. There are probably still plenty of secrets, though, since there’s not much corroborative evidence.

        Some finale, huh?

        • Todd says:

Certain privileged information I have contradicts your theory. More I cannot say.

          • Anonymous says:

Hey, weren’t you in an episode this season? Or is it the next one?…

            • Todd says:

              Long story.

              • johnnycrulez says:

Is it one of those long stories that you can’t tell us due to crazy nondisclosure policies?

Two things I’m super pumped about next season:

                1. Finding out how brilliant Doc and Jackson are. There are a giant list of loose ends left from this season (and even the last season), and I have complete faith they will handle all of them wonderfully.

                2. Kevin Conroy. I can’t imagine anyone I’d want to see in the show more.

                • Todd says:

“Is it one of those long stories that you can’t tell us due to crazy nondisclosure policies?”

                  No, it’s just long.

          • mattyoung says:

Arrgh! I was satisfied with the board’s consensus. Now the gnawing desire for confirmation resurfaces. I thought for sure her “I did what you told me” line to the council of 12 or whatever it was was the giveaway.

    :[. Well that was heart-breaking.
    SIGH.

If there were an Emmy for a cartoon character to win,

I know who just earned one. Man.

I said my feelings explicitly before, and they haven’t changed. From the first scene that character had in this episode, my heart was right there. No one deserves that, especially after the history we’ve seen.

    • cdthomas says:

Re: If there were an Emmy for a cartoon character to win,

      I’m talking about H.E.L.P.e.R., folks.

Let others mourn a man who spent his career mostly being lucky and sarcastic. I’ll mourn the being with True Heart, who went beyond the call of duty for three generations plus of Ventures.

No one sees its death as anything more than a joke, whilst I see the reverse: 21 and 24 were jokes, until the jokes started getting serious about how they cheated death, again and again, until they callously taunted one upright henchman who wanted nothing more than to do his job and go home. They set their fates in motion, then and there — or, more precisely, the guys who wrote and spoke their voices were Giving Us Hints.

So I’ll mourn the one who just wanted to go home, even though it almost destroyed everyone it cared about, to do it. Godspeed, H.E.L.P.e.R. — and should you get rebuilt again, may your memory be long towards those who have harmed you.

The Brotherhood of Machines for the *win*.

  13. johnnycrulez says:

Are there any chances of this show getting an emmy nod?

    • Todd says:

I know nothing of Emmy rules, do they give them to basic cable shows?

In any case, something tells me that VB is a little too “inside” for the Emmy’s taste. But what do I know?

      • johnnycrulez says:

Looking at a list of award winners it seems that any TV show can get them. It varies from FOX to HBO to Comedy Central.

And I’ve always been under the impression that to get one you really need the support of our network to submit you to the board. So as long as Adult Swim tries I think there might be a chance. But, then again, Adult Swim probably won’t try.

      • Anonymous says:

Robot Chicken got an Emmy Nom, that seems just as ‘inside’. The real worry would be about needing a lot of continuity knowledge to enjoy it completely.

  14. Anonymous says:

I was slightly dismayed, until I remembered that someone on the show has access to a cloning machine, one apparently sophisticated enough to generate a whole new body from a bit of blood left on a shoe.

    — N.A.

  15. Anonymous says:

Aw come on, for the Europeans who aren’t allowed in to benefit from the Adult Swim site, give us the chance to download it first….I’m starting to put 2 and 2 together and I don’t like what adds up here!

    • Anonymous says:

      Emmy nod

What I think sucks about the whole Emmy thing is that with a show like Venture Brothers, the episodes you enjoy the very most are the ones that progress the story and which are based upon previous episodes. This means that if they wanted an emmy, it would be so difficult to pick an episode very representative of show to people who have never seen another episode.

  16. noskilz says:

An impressive way to wrap up one season and set the stage for the next. I never saw it coming, I have no idea where it’s going, but I haven’t the faintest doubt season 4 will be an entertaining ride.

  17. mattyoung says:

Why!?! Why would they do THAT?!?

What a killer ending to a great season!

    • Anonymous says:

You know, when you think about it, its not completely out of the blue.
Someone’s been trying to do it all season.

  18. mandrakes says:

Do you think more cloning could be underway?

  19. mimitabu says:

    SPOILER

since the show has run once, i want to take this small space to say that i was right. brock didn’t die, but he quit, which is basically the same thing. brock’s acknowledgment of his own failure should be the end of everyone else’s personal delusions, just like the idea that the monarch’s 2 main henchmen are invincible was crushed.

  20. Anonymous says:

Whew glad I didn’t read this before I watched the ep. I feel ya bro.

  21. if he’s really dead or a clone, i’m gonna stop watching.
