It’s that time of year again, when I ask my readers to step forward and introduce themselves to me, and each other.  This should be an ongoing communal celebration, and we should all know something about each other.  Who are you people, where are you from, what do you do, how did you find out about this journal, what makes you come back, what do you like, what do you dislike, what would you like to see more of.  This goes double for my anonymous lurkers.  My intent is for this journal to become much more purely about screenplay analysis, but God knows my mind wanders, and my kids won’t stop doing cute things.  Many thanks for your continued attention, I am in your debt.

    belated happy new year

    Hi, Todd –

I’ve been a lurker for over a year, and I tend to swoop in and read in batches, which is why my comment is so late.

My name is Raye and I came to you though the great blog of my friend curt_holman. I run a professional theater in the Atlanta suburbs and have been enthralled by your film/theater comparison posts. It’s given me a lot of clarity into why some plays work as films and some don’t.

But I enjoy the entire blog, including the kids. (My girls are similar in age to your children, though not nearly so knowledgeable about film. But childhood is the same – I emailed my husband all of your mantis posts.)

Nice to meet you. Next step, Facebook friends!

A very belated (VERY!) happy new years to everyone.

My name is Robert Young and I’m a 19 year Air Force veteran that works at the U.S. Embassy in Oslo, Norway. I am also an animation student about 1/2 way through my training at Animation Mentor. You can call me a complete pop culture geek that has always had a place close to my heart for comic books, movies, and all things animated.

I found this fantastic journal through a post from another Animation Mentor student left a link to your Sam and the Firefly analysis. It didn’t take me long to get hooked on your Justice League and The Dark Knight posts Todd. I’ve since devoured as much as I could from your archives!

Your movie analysis is amazing to read and I am also a huge fan of the screenwriting 101 series.
